Tell us about a Mighty Black Woman

“Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” – Harriet Tubman
In places big and small throughout the world, black women are challenging the status quo by creating ways-out-of-no-ways to provide opportunities for others. You probably know some of them. Their efforts are strengthening families, saving children, fighting crime, building businesses and transforming communities. With the spirit of Sojourner Truth and Harriet Tubman, these modern mighty women are making our world better.
We Are Black Women will chronicle some of their stories. If you know of a woman in your community who is doing good and whose work has empowered others, please send us her name and a brief description of her work.
If you’d like to write a short story about her, that’s good, too. Tell us in 300 to 500 words about some of the challenges confronted, successes achieved and the differences made in your community by your Mighty Black Woman. Please include a photo.
We will review each submission and will contact you and the black woman to be profiled before publishing her story. Include your full name and a telephone number for confirmation.
Join us in celebrating Mighty Black Women.
